Christian H. Kindsvatter is Chairman/Founder Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates, Inc. (KD&A).  KD&A has distinguished itself since its original founding in 1934, as an association management firm that also is a leading multi client lobbying firm representing leading national and state corporations and associations. Under Mr. Kindsvatter&;s direction, KD&A expanded from its original legislative services to management and public relations services for its clients.

Mr. Kindsvatter has had a distinguished career in association management/lobbying beginning in 1968, representing such organizations as the Ohio manufacturer Association, Ohio Council of Retail Merchants, Wholesale Beer Association of Ohio, Ohio Osteopathic Association, and the Ohio Home Builders Association.  Prior to coming to Michigan in 1980, Mr. Kindsvatter managed the Ohio ballot campaign, representing Ohio businesses and labor organizations that defeated a mandatory bottle deposit law by a 3 to 1 statewide ballot vote.

In 1980, Mr. Kindsvatter became President and CEO of the Michigan Merchants Council & Associates, representing the nation&;s leading retailer corporations and related association groups.  In 1994, Mr. Kindsvatter purchased the organization, founded in 1934 by Wilfred F Doyle, and he continued Mr. Doyle’s representative goals and developed new legislative and management objectives and services.

Today, Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates, Inc. has been very assertive in expanding both the association management and legislative sides of the business. Under Mr. Dalling’s leadership, KD&A continues to move forward and grow in providing quality association management and legislative representation to associations, corporations and local government. 

In 1995, Mr. Kindsvatter received a high tribute from his peers and legislators in Michigan by being rated in a statewide survey as nineteenth out of 1,250 lobbyists in the state in his lobbying influence.  Mr. Kindsvatter&;s firm was ranked ninth out of 950 lobbying organizations. In 2001 he also ranked eighteenth and his firm was ranked sixth.

Mr. Kindsvatter serves on numerous civic and professional boards such as Past President of Impression 5 Science Museum, past Board member of the Chief Okemos Council of the Boy Scouts of America and served on the Executive Committee and Past President of the Top of Michigan Marathon Association.

He attended Valley Forge Military Academy, is a graduate of Akron University with a B.A. in finance, and holds a Masters of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.

Mr. Kindsvatter has received numerous awards including the Outstanding Young Men of America Award in 1980 given by the Columbus, Ohio, Jaycees.  Mr. Kindsvatter is also an avid outdoor enthusiast.  He and his wife, Lori, of 19 years, own and operate the Eaglenest Farm of Indian River, Michigan. He has three children: Kelly, Karee and Kaleb.





Derek E. Dalling email

Derek E. Dalling is the President and CEO of Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates. He joined the firm in 1998 after several years of service as a staff member in the Michigan Legislature. Mr. Dalling began his career in 1995 with the Michigan House of Representatives. At that time, he was the youngest staff member in the House Republican Caucus. His campaign and political knowledge led him to work in one of the most competitive districts. 

In 1997, Mr. Dalling joined the House Republican Leadership as a Legislative Assistant to then Representative Charles Perricone. In that capacity, Mr. Dalling played significant roles in ensuring an efficient transition to term limits and in the statewide campaign efforts. Mr. Dalling’s work was instrumental in Representative Perricone’s election as the Speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives.

In 2004, a past KD&A client, awarded Mr. Dalling their highest honor for a lay person, the Distinguished Contribution Award, for his leadership and service to their profession.  Similarly, in 2008, the Michigan Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects selected Mr. Dalling as their Honor Award in recognition of his legislative and administrative contributions to the Chapter and to the profession.  With his help and under Dalling’s direction, the Michigan Propane Gas Association, the Michigan Chapter—ASLA, and the Michigan Society for Respiratory Care have all been recognized and presented with awards by their respective national associations.

Today, Mr. Dalling serves as executive director of several statewide associations and a national association. He also lobbies on a wide array of issues. Legislatively, Mr. Dalling specializes on everything from transportation and environment issues to regulatory and health policy issues to insurance and general business issues and everything in between. 

Mr. Dalling and his wife, Erin, a former legislative assistant in the State Senate, reside in Grand Ledge with their daughter, Ashleigh and son, Jonathan. Mr. Dalling earned his B.A. from the University of Michigan and remains an avid Wolverine fan and alumnus. 


Matthew G. Solak email

Matthew G. Solak is the Vice President of Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates. He joined the firm in 2013 after years of service as a staff member in the Michigan Legislature and working for a leading trade association in Washington, D.C. 

Mr. Solak began his career in 2008 working as a Field Organizer for the Mark Schauer for Congress Campaign. After helping to get now former Congressman Schauer elected to Congress, Mr. Solak earned a position as Legislative Aide with, then, State Representative Barb Byrum. Mr. Solak was responsible for handling Representative Byrum’s legislative agenda and primarily focused on insurance related issues when Representative Byrum was Chair of the House Insurance Committee. 

After helping get Representative Byrum elected to her third and final term in the State House in 2010, Mr. Solak took a position on the government relations team of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors in Washington, D.C. Mr. Solak, worked on state legislative and regulatory issues with a emphasis on protecting the role of professional agents and advisors in the implementation of state-based health insurance exchanges and other aspects of the Affordable Care Act.

Born in Indiana, Mr. Solak was raised in Saint Joseph, Michigan and currently resides in Lansing. Mr. Solak earned his B.A. in political science and history from Valparaiso University.


Jason M.  Wadaga email

Jason M. Wadaga is the Vice-President of Governmental Relations for Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates. He joined the firm in 2013 after nearly nine years in the Michigan Legislature.

Mr. Wadaga began his career in politics with the Michigan Republican Party in 2004. After the 2004 election, he earned himself a position with the Michigan House Republican Caucus.  He served in various roles in the Michigan House of Representatives and Michigan Senate through the years, including as the Legislative Director for State Representative Tim Moore. Mr. Wadaga was responsible for handling Representative Moore’s legislative agenda as well as his re-elections to the Michigan House of Representatives.

Mr. Wadaga most recently served as the Chief-of-Staff for State Senator Rick Jones.  In that role, he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations in the office, the office budget and key legislative initiatives.  He was also responsible for setting the agenda and guiding legislation in the Senate Judiciary Committee, on which Senator Jones chairs.

 Mr. Wadaga was born and raised in Baraga, Michigan and holds a B.S. from Northern Michigan University.  He resides in East Lansing, Michigan with his wife Kimberly and is a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.


Geri Root email

Geri Root is the Director of Events for Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates. She plans and coordinates all meetings, conferences and events for KD&A clients. Ms. Root joined the staff in 2014, after working for more than seven years as an independent consultant planning meetings and events and performing various management tasks for association clients.
Ms. Root has more than 25 years of experience working with non-profit associations and planning meetings. She has worked in every facet of event planning having worked for hotels, associations, businesses, and firms.  
She achieved the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 2002 and the Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM) designation in 2013. She was name Meeting Planner of the Year by the Meeting Professionals International in 2006 and Meeting Partner of the Year by the National Speakers Association Michigan Chapter in 2008.
She and her husband, Eric, reside in DeWitt and enjoy relaxing at their cottage in northern Michigan.


Michelle D. Dishaw email

Michelle D. Dishaw is the Membership Services Director and Website Development Administrator for Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates, Inc. (KD&A). Ms Dishaw joined KD&A in 2004. Ms. Dishaw’s duties include special projects for clients, website development, and database maintenance for various associations which provide membership and meeting data, as well as assistance the association management team.  Ms. Dishaw also performs accounts receivable/payable and other financial functions for select associations that KD&A manages.

Ms. Dishaw is well traveled, with her father serving was a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy and her mother Captain in the U.S. Air Force. In 2004, Ms. Dishaw graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. She and her husband, Brian, reside in DeWitt with their daughter Emily, and enjoy running, backpacking, and traveling, as well as cheering on the Michigan State Spartans.



Denise A. Stone email

Denise A. Stone is the Financial Administrator/Association Management Services Administrator of Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates, Inc. (KD&A). Ms. Stone performs accounts receivable/payable and other financial functions for the firm and each of the associations that KD&A manages. She also lends general and technical support to the many clients involved in the associations represented by KD&A.

Ms. Stone comes from a 12 year background in retailing where she performed inventory management for a major national retailer. She resides in and commutes from Owosso where she has lived all her life.



Sara A. McCallum email

Sara McCaullm is the Event Coordinator for Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates, Inc. (KD&A). She joined the KD&A team in 2010. Ms. McCallum oversees and organizes all the events, conventions, seminars, and trainings for six of KD&A’s association clients.

Ms. McCallum brings 10 years of customer service experience and most recently Fedex Office where she supervised her team as the Lead Project Coordinator. 

As a new homeowner, Ms. McCallum enjoys working around her home and taking on do-it-yourself projects. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs, friends and family. She also enjoys new experiences, meeting new people and traveling.


Alyssa Hansen email

Ms. Hansen is the Administrative Assistant at KD&A. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the KD&A office which includes answering all of the KD&A and client phone lines, coordinating mailings, and assisting other KD&A team members whenever needed.  

Ms. Hansen graduated from Lansing Christian High School in 2009. She earned 12 Varsity letters while competing in basketball, volleyball, soccer, track and softball. In basketball and volleyball, she earned the spot as Captain for both her junior and senior years. She was All State, All Conference and All Area in basketball, volleyball and soccer. Ms. Hansen was also a member of the National Honor’s Society and competed in State Choir festivals.

Ms. Hansen currently resides in Dimondale, MI with her family. She is looking to continue her education in Business and Political Science.



Alicia L. Vazquez email

Alicia Vazquez is the Director of Graphic Design for Kindsvatter, Dalling & Associates, Inc. (KD&A). She joined the K&A team in 2010. Ms. Vazquez oversees the creative design and printing of materials for all KD&A clients.

Ms. Vazquez comes to us with two decades of graphic design experience. Most recently, Ms. Vazquez worked as a Multimedia Designer for the University of Michigan where she was responsible for the design of both print and web material for units across the U-M campus and the U-M Health System.

Ms. Vazquez has been married to her husband Gerald for 15 years. They reside in Saline, Michigan with their three children. Alicia enjoys going to her sons sporting events and attending U-M football games. Go blue!
